The AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas has confirmed that WWE will go forward with tonight’s SmackDown and ECW tapings in the city as scheduled. The shows will not be Chris Benoit tribute shows nor will they have anything to do with the Vince McMahon is “dead” angle. Given the recent series of events it appears as if WWE has scrapped the McMahon angle as they have removed all references to the storyline from their official WWE.com web site.
Mainstream and local media outlets from all over the world have picked up on the story of the Benoit Family Tragedy. District Attorney Scott Ballard is quoted in several of the articles that he is confident that Chris Benoit killed his wife Nancy and their son Daniel, before taking his own life.
While the cause of death has not been made public, it is known that the deaths were not the result of gunshots or a stabbing. Authorities have made it clear that the Benoit family was not killed by a third party suspect. The results of toxicology and autopsy reports will tell much more as to the cause of death, but will not be made available for the next couple of weeks.
