The UFC’s trip to Berlin next month has undergone a change in the main event. A back injury has forced Alexander Gustafsson out of his scheduled five-round bout against Glover Teixeira.
UFC Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrezjczyk will now defend the championship against Jessica Penne in the new headline bout. It will mark the first time a title has been defended on a UFC Fight Pass event when it takes place on June 20. Penne was scheduled to fight Julianna Lima on May 30, but was pulled when there was a need for a new main event. No word on a replacement to fight Lima.
Jedrezjczyk won the strawweight title at UFC 185 in March when she scored a second-round TKO win over the former champion, Carla Esparza. She is 9-0 in her career. Penne is coming off a victory over Randa Markos at the TUF 20 Finale in December and is currently ranked number three in the UFC’s rankings.
It is unclear whether Teixeira will remain on the card.
