For those of you who don’t recall, back in 2008 Scott Steiner cut a now-infamous promo on Impact Wrestling, dubbed the “Math Promo”, during which listed various percentages he had of beating Samoa Joe in their match that night. You can watch the entire promo in the video player above.
Joe took part earlier this week in a Q&A session during Sam Roberts’ show at Carolines Comedy Club in New York City, and during the Q&A, a fan asked Joe about the classic Steiner promo, and Joe revealed the following:
“What you guys don’t know is that the promo actually broke 6 or 7 times because Petey Williams couldn’t keep his sh*t together”, explained Joe, via Pro Wrestling Sheet. “And Scotty’s math just got better and better each time.”

Joe actually revealed that he was present behind the camera during Joe’s promo, and he loved it, as he thought it really helped sell their fight. “Whatever you need to say about me to sell that fight, let’s sell that fight,” said Joe. The #1 contender to the WWE Title added that people came up to him after the promo and asked him if it bothered him, and he said he thought it was a really funny promo and a “brilliant piece of business”.
