As noted, Steve Austin caught WWE off guard by not appearing at WrestleMania 31 this past weekend as scheduled.
WWE was expecting Austin to arrive in Santa Clara, California as the same flight as The Undertaker, and even had someone at the airport waiting to pick him up.
Apparently WWE was still expecting Austin to show up at some point, as they reserved a room with his name on it backstage at Levi’s Stadium until mid-week.
The issue is said to be between Austin and Vince McMahon, with one WWE source close to the situation claiming they’ve never seen McMahon this mad before, which is obviously saying a lot.
Part of the problem appears to be some issues McMahon has with Austin’s podcast on the WWE Network. The company is also upset that Austin turned down an offer to return as part of the returning season of Tough Enough.
It is believed that Austin will be commenting on his issues with WWE in the near future.
