It looks like AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson have been rebranded, and are no longer being referred to as “The Club” following this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.
During the massive Raw Reunion the trio called themselves “The O.C.”, stating that they are “the only club that matters”. Throughout the show they were also called “The Original Club” as well as “The Official Club”, so the phrase appears to have multiple uses.
This is of course a continued (and much more direct) play on the fact that all three Superstars are former members of The Bullet Club in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and around the world. Anderson is in fact one of the faction’s founding members, and was at one point a leader of the group prior to Styles joining their ranks and winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
Tama Tonga is not gonna be happy about this one…
We know what you’re thinking, and yes, the O.C. is indeed a popular abbreviation for Orange County, as well as a popular teen drama on FOX in the mid-2000s. Unfortunately this does not appear to be a bizarre cross-over even between the two series.
